Ok so just now I got on to post an evaluation of the other day and to my surprise I noticed that I had 203 visitors in total (which is unique visitors and not counting my own visits). I don’t know where I got all these visitors from but its nice to know that people besides my colleagues and my teacher are having a look at my blog. I’d like to encourage those other visitors to leave a comment so I can have some reflection on what other individuals think of the work that we’re doing in our Information Technology! 🙂

Today I added my copyright statement to every single frame of my Flash presentation. I was in fact challenged with some problems today however seeing how one of my colleagues had made a mistake in the addition of a link button and I was asked to look at it. It took me several minutes to figure out what the problem was because it was a small typing error in the linking of the buttons. I am quite used to tracing down errors as I produce my websites using PHP (PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor, yes the first P does actually stand for PHP…)  and the smallest typing mistake can result in the failure of the entire script. I was also surprised to be presented with a gift which was given to me because of the fact that i’ve tried to help almost every one of my colleagues. I appreciated the gesture of recognition very much!! 🙂 The gift that was presented to me was a USB pen which I really needed seeing how I lost my old USB drive (which included my IT investigation! 😦 ). Like I’ve stated in one of my previous posts I’ll keep helping everybody who needs my assistance with Macromedia Flash until the end of our IT unit.

As you might have noticed I posted up a tutorial about how you can link buttons to each other in Macromedia Flash which I have managed to produce during our Information Technology classes. I made this tutorial as I found that some of my colleagues kept making the same mistakes in adding the buttons to their slides which resulted into me spending most of my class trying to fix broken slides which had codes placed on the button in stead of the frame, this being merely one example. I do not believe that this is a total waste of my time however as I get to help my colleagues with the development of their project which in a way relates to the social education Area Of Interaction which the MYP uses. In my opinion I find that it is also challenging for me to solve several problems that my colleagues might have come across as it challenges the knowledge that I already posses about the usage of Macromedia Flash. Therefore as long as my colleagues are not done with the create portion of their project I will help those who need my help with Macromedia Flash

Adding buttons

So not everybody seems to understand how to link buttons to pages so I made this small picture tutorial which should help you create new buttons which actually work.

New Widget

As you might have noticed I have recently added a new widget to my Information Technology Blog. It is similar to instant messenger programs like MSN and it allows the visitors of my blog to send me instant messages when I’m online and if I’m offline the messages get delivered the moment that I log again. This widget is called Meebome and for my colleagues I believe that it also works for Blogger. I hope you enjoy it, try and see if it works, the new widget can be found in the sidebar below the link list.

It seems to me that my evaluations are getting more similar every time I post. I believe that this is due to the fact that I have been helping my colleagues with their create portion. Even though I have started my own create portion I believe that I should start to focus on my own work in class to ensure that the quality of my own project will not suffer due to the fact that I’m helping my colleagues.

I think that it would be better if I post a tutorial on how to link slides together on my blog as I have found that most people are asking me the same question each time. This will allow me to spend some time to finish my own create portion in Macromedia Flash. In addition to this I still have not managed to work on my plan portion seeing how the document does not seem to open on my own personal computer and I’d like to use the example given on my teachers blog. So this is a problem I’ll have to overcome. Otherwise I believe that I’m pretty much caught up on my project.

Today we had an assembly so we only had one period of IT. For homework I have finished half of the create portion as I knew that I wouldn’t get a lot of work done today. I tried helping my teacher with a presentation that she needed to prepare but we ran into some trouble. Therefore two of my colleagues made some great looking drawings to replace the original movie. I also helped some people with their flash project before going out. For my create I only have to add three more tabs but the layout is already done. I forgot to mention before however that the three plans that I had originally made will not work out in flash and therefore I had to make a whole new design. The fact that Flash has low graphic abilities prevented me from implementing my designs as these all had a high amount of pixels and they turned out low quality when implemented in flash. The new design I made however does not look bad in my opinion.

Today I haven’t gotten any work done at all as there were several people who asked me to help them with the creation of their flash project. I also found that I can’t work on the planning at home as I can’t open the visio charts at home so I will have to complete those in my lunchtimes. Next lesson I’m planning on finishing the plan portion of our project before I start helping the others again as I’m sure that I can work on the create part at home.

Today we had a single period of IT because we had an assembly. After that I managed to make good use of the last period by explaining the class how to work with Macromedia Flash so it would be easier for them to create their project. Not everybody was paying attention but there were some people who were and I think that they’ve managed to learn something from this. To help out more I’ve added the original Flash document to the shared folder so they can look at it later to see how to, for example, change to another page. Next lesson I’m planning on finishing the design part in once so I can get on with the fun part which is the creation of the project.

I came across this funny comic last time I was on a forum and I thought I’d post it here. I also made a new blog on which I will be posting all my web projects as well as resources for web designers to use. I also summed up the Web 2.0 style guide which you can use to design your promotional CD with. Hope its useful:
